The study most often cited was done by two researchers. My concern is were they objective or biased? Also, the study said the areas compared side by side were the same except for race. What I found interesting is they mentioned types of homes, stores and amenities BUT completely left out víolent críme rates comparisons. Which is a major factor in home values, people tend to pay much more if they don’t have to worry about their own safety or their families safety. Here are both of the researchers: Junia Howell and here is what she says about herself, “Formally trained as an urban sociologist and race scholar, I use quantitative (numbers) and qualitative (narrative) tools to identify and dismantle the specific policies, processes, and practices that uphold Whíte supremacy.” Elizabeth Korver-Glenn and what she says about herself. “I study, write, teach, and speak about many things, most of them in some way related to racism, Whïte supremàcy, or urban/neighborhood inequality. Propelling it all is this aim: to do justice.” Sure, they don’t sound biased at all, that’s sarcasm by the way, both are totally biased. Also, I researched some cities in the report, they didn’t cite what neighborhoods they compared. I find that very interesting, Chicago for example had home values for whíte people’s homes at a mean appraised value of just over $600k and błack owned homes at just under $200k. Yet they didn’t give the neighborhoods they compared, why is that important right? Name 3 mostly błack neighborhoods in Chicago with low víolent críme that is somehow priced much lower than comparable whíte neighborhoods, go ahead I’ll wait? Hyde Park right? It’s mixed and not mostly błack. That’s important because people pay more when the neighborhood is safe. Then we have Kenwood neighborhood, guess what it’s low crìme and valued higher than the closest comparable “whìte” neighborhood. I checked LA too and found no racíal bías again. Another city as well and the same outcome. Again, the truth is the difference isn’t about race, it’s actually about críme and safety.

I wasn't a realtor for long before I observed so many disturbing biases and disparities. The vast majority of realtors in America are white females in their 50s. When they become realtors, they start helping folks buy and sell real estate much sooner than black realtors, because of their connections to people who can afford real estate. White females are also welcomed into high-earning teams far more often than realtors of color. It isn't my intention to take anything away from realtors who are steadily working. That is awesome! My intention is to shed light on these unaddressed disparities. Surely, it can't be fair for one demographic to be working in real estate without any fair and balanced competition. There must be someone who can address these disparities professionally. Let me also remind people of Matthew 22:39 Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. If you're a believer, then the Bible commands us to be unbiased and not show favoritism, but to love ALL our neighbors. People need to return to core values in God's Word.

Seventy percent of America's realtors are white and more than 97% of home appraisers are white, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. What's worse, the vast majority of America's homeowners are white and most of them refuse to hire realtors who aren't white. Real estate isn't an industry that has been welcoming to African Americans especially, considering the history of redlining, racially-restrictive housing covenants, segregation, and the establishment of ghettoes and slums. A lot of whites like to think they are socially-evolved progessives, but America's neighborhoods and schools, which are still so segregated, tell us otherwise! The truth is, the politics of race is what drives real estate and it's what drives all of America.

I would like to know if the fair housing act discriminates against all people regarding the ability to get and maintain safe affordable housing. People are being priced out of safe and affordable housing daily. It should not be the right of a landlord to be able to raise the rent at the beginning of every lease. I believe this is overall violating ALL people's rights to fair safe and affordable housing. The literal interpretation of safe fair and affordable housing should be available to all and not be subject to constant rent increases that are designated as allowable in the fair housing act. In summation, landlords are raising rents and effectively putting people at risk of being homeless. The people who are at risk are the people 'designed' to be protected by this act.

This video was really informative. I never gave it a second thought and can see how sometimes you can come across bias by your actions, facial expressions or even body language. It has made me more aware and I now give it a little more thought as to how what I say can be portrayed.
